추석날, 그동안 멀리 떨어져 지내던 달이네 가족이 한데 모였습니다. 온 가족이 함께 차례 상에 올릴 음식을 준비하고, 송편도 빚었지요. 추석날 아침에는 모두 함께 차례를 지내고 성묘도 합니다. 마을에선 한바탕 잔치가 벌어졌다. 달이와 해준이는 씨름을 구경하고, 줄다리기도 하고, 손에 손을 잡고 강강술래도 하며 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다.
On the Korean Thanksgiving Day, the moon has been a long way away. The whole family prepared food for the table together and made a songpyeon. On Chuseok, we all take turns and go to the grave. There was a feast in town. Dal and Haejun had a great time watching the wrestling, tug-of-war, holding hands in their hands and doing Korean circle dance.
아이들은 달이네 가족의 추석 풍경을 보면서 그동안 무심히 또는 습관적으로 지내 왔던 추석 풍습과 놀이의 의미를 제대로 알고, 소중한 우리 문화로써 추석을 만날 수 있습니다. 또한 풍습과 놀이 하나하나에 담긴 우리 조상들의 삶과 지혜를 배우게 될 것입니다.
